Groundwork Jiu-Jitsu

Groundwork Jiu-Jitsu offers Fundamentals Adults & Kids Classes that teach the fundamentals of jiu-jitsu, including self-defense techniques for real-life situations and sport techniques for sparring. The program includes situational training, live sparring, conditioning, skill-oriented games, private training, Gi classes, No-Gi classes, and Open Mat sessions. The kids program teaches fundamental self-defense and sport jiu-jitsu techniques, and the adults program teaches self-defense and sport jiu-jitsu techniques for practitioners of all experience levels, from fundamentals to advanced.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Groundwork Jiu-Jitsu is described as the most effective martial art for self-defense and focuses predominantly on ground combat. It is described as a physically demanding sport that requires and teaches dedication, repetition, endurance, agility, and flexibility, and it does not rely on size or strength, focusing instead on leveraging one’s own body and applying joint manipulations for submissions. The kids program aims to build and improve motor skills, agility, flexibility, and problem-solving skills, and jiu-jitsu is described as teaching discipline, commitment, leadership, appropriate peer interaction, building confidence, and helping prevent bullying. The program offers classes for students of all ages and levels, includes a 6AM Morning Class focused on Triangle Defense, and has announced a Grand Opening at its Dana Point location.
